Diogenes Ayala: 2023 Hero of the Heartland

The NAACP Des Moines Branch would like to congratulate our very own Diogenes Ayala on his recognition as a 2023 Hero of the Heartland.
Diogenes is a member of our executive committee, and chair of our Community Coordination Committee.
This honor was bestowed upon Diogenes by the American Red Cross in honor of the extraordinary work done in response to the March 5th, 2022 EF4 Tornado that devastated Madison County. Diogenes thought he was just doing his job when the tornados ripped through Madison
County. However, everyone agrees he went above and beyond.
His actions not only rallied a community, but also saved a life.
