The 47th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, held on December 13, 2024, commemorated the NAACP Des Moines Branch’s proud legacy and unwavering commitment to civil rights. This milestone event commemorated the 40th anniversary of the Federal Court Consent Decree that integrated the Des Moines Fire Department, and recognized the courageous Black firefighters who paved the way for a more inclusive community. Attendees were inspired by keynote speaker Roscoe Jones, Jr., the first Black Dean of Drake Law School, whose insights underscored the evening’s theme of being “All In” for justice and opportunity.
